Anxiety
Anxiety Disorders are the most common disorders which affects both children and adults. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA.org), more than 40 million Americans suffer from anxiety disorders with only a fraction receiving treatment. While occasional anxiety and stress are common parts of life, severe anxiety and panic may strip joy from lives and have furthering negative consequences for continued quality of life.
Panic attacks, (also known as anxiety attacks) can manifest unexpectantly or situationally leaving the sufferer in significant distress which can be terrifying, however, these conditions are highly treatable, and we are here to help!
Physical Symptoms of Anxiety
- Heart Palpitations: A racing, pounding, or skipping heart rate.
- Shortness of Breath: Feeling like you can’t get a deep breath or a “tight” chest.
- Muscle Tension: Clenched jaw, tight shoulders, or unexplained aches.
- Digestive Issues: Nausea, “butterflies,” stomach cramps, or frequent bathroom trips.
- Trembling: Shaking hands or internal tremors.
- Sleep Disturbances: Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep due to a racing mind.


Cognitive & Emotional Symptoms of Anxiety
- Excessive Worrying: Constant “what-if” thinking about everyday situations.
- Irritability: Feeling “on edge” or snapping at others more easily than usual.
- Difficulty Concentrating: Feeling like your mind goes blank or you can’t focus on tasks.
- Sense of Impending Doom: A persistent feeling that something bad is about to happen.
- Dissociation: Feeling “spaced out” or like the world around you isn’t quite real (derealization).
Behavioral Symptoms of Anxiety
- Avoidance: Steering clear of places, people, or situations that might trigger stress.
- Restlessness: Pacing, fidgeting, or an inability to sit still.
- Reassurance Seeking: Constantly asking others if things are okay or if you’re doing a good job.
